NEW HAVEN, CT- There were a lot of highs and lows for both teams in a meet where Rutgers would win over Yale 188.25 to 188.20 in front of a sizeable crowd in the Lee Amphitheater. Among the highs though was the send off for Yale’s four seniors, captain Kristen Campbell, Laura Lombardi, Cynthia Leung, and Katherine Yao were honored for their contributions to the team throughout the past four years. Campbell is headed to Psychology graduate school, and Lombardi, Leung, and Yao are pursuing medical school.
Turning to the action itself, Rutgers pulled out to a lead with some strong Vault and Bars scores, and Yale had a rough Bars rotation. However, Rutgers had lower scores on Beam and Floor, and Yale put together a good Floor routine and an very good Beam routine to close the score and nearly win the meet.
For Yale, Brigitte Kivisto picked up three good scores with a 9.675 on floor (which tied for the top team score of the day), 9.625 on Beam, and a 9.525 on Bars. Alina Liao had a 9.725 to lead the team on beam, and a 9.725 on Bars as well to lead the team and she picked up a 38.05 in the all around. Her Vault and Floor scores were counted towards the team totals as well. Allison Mak had the team’s top vault score of 9.475, as well as a 9.525 on Beam, and solid score on Floor. Lauren Tatsuno tied with Kivisto for the team leading score on Floor, and also picked up a 9.675 on Beam, as well as a 9.425 on Vault.
Of the graduating seniors, Campbell finished up her last home meet with a 9.575 on Floor, and solid scores on Beam and Vault. Lombardi had a 9.65 on Beam to contribute to the high score on that event, and also contributed a 9.0 on bars and a 9.2 on Vault. Leung put up a 9.15 on the Uneven Bars, good for 3rd among Bulldogs, and Yao scored a 9.4, on the floor.
For Rutgers, Laura Sevarino in addition to scoring a 38.35 in the all around, picked up a 9.725 on the Beam, 9.625 on Vault to lead the team, a team leading score of 9.6 on Floor, and a9.4 on Bars. Stephanie Pannick picked up a 9.7 to top the Scarlet Knights in scoring on the Uneven Bars. Alison Hartwig had a 9.775 on the Beam to lead the team on that event.
Latara Northcutt picked up a 9.65 on the Bars, and a 9.5 on vault, as well as a contributing to the Beam score. Prishani Seebadri had the team’s third highest vault score with a 9.45, and contributed to the team’s Bars efforts. Alyssa Lewandowki’s 9.45 was the team’s second best Floor score of the afternoon, and she had a 9.425 on Vault as well. Other highlights included Kiah Banfield’s Vault score, Kristy Behr’s Bars contributions, Elizabeth Bohnsack on Floor, Jessica Haddaway on beam, Nicole Rose on Vault, and Maddie Zwiebel on Floor.
