SCSU, Brockport, and MIT all picked up season highs in their tri-meet at Cambridge this past Saturday. The Golden Eagles picked up a 185.95, MIT had a 183.225, and Southern Connecticut had a 187.575. There were actually two simultaneous meets going on this afternoon as the Men’s Springfield and MIT teams also faced off. I arrived a bit late so this report will be a bit more incomplete than usual. I do hope to add to it in the future though.
For Southern Connecticut, Justine Basley led the team in the All Around with a 37.725, and Erika Pysh scored a 37.35.
On the vault, Briana DiPinto had the team high score of 9.525, Basley had 9.5, and Pysh and Brittany Otto picked up 9.375. Nicole Fern and Carolyn Proulx rounded out the scores for the team’s rotation.
On the Bars, Sarah Darst had a team topping score of 9.6, Basley had a 9.4, Dana Goodknight had the third top Owls score with a 9.25. Pysh and Krystie Tomlinson contributed to the scoring as well on the event.
Taylor Murray had the team’s highest score of the afternoon on any event with a 9.7 on beam, Michelle Guillerault was right behind her with a 9.6, Basley had a 9.325, and Pysh ad DiPinto rounded out the scoring routines.
On the floor, Southern’s best scoring event of the day, DiPinto had a 9.65, followed by Pysh’s 9.6, Basley’s 9.5, Guillerault’s 9.45, and Goodknight’s 9.0 to complete the counted scores.
MIT put together its scores on a very solid Vault rotation, as well as a Floor team score which topped SCSU’s though was behind Brockport’s.
Sophia Harrison had a 38.075 on the All Around, Julia Zimmerman a 36.575, and Laura Kelly a 35.325. Zimmerman and Harrison are often a one two punch that often score close to 38 if not above that.
On the Vault, Zimmerman led the team with her 9.475, with Harrison right behind with a 9.45, Alison Barnard flew to a 9.375, and Kristen Watkins had a 9.05, with Laura Kelly just missing nine by the slimmest of margins to finish up the rotation.
On the Bars, it was tough scoring event, but Harrison swung to a 9.5. On the Beam, Harrison picked up another 9.5, and Katie Mingo had a 9.25 as well.
On Floor there was a lot of good scoring news, Zimmerman led the way with a 9.75, Harrison had a 9.625, Mingo picked up a 9.525, Trowbridge had a 9.4, and Kelly a 9.15 to provide the five counted scores.
I’ll write more on Brockport soon and hopefully integrate info from their appearance at Springfield earlier this season.
