(Scores from eyewitness accounts and Troester.) (I don’t have Troester scores for BYU as of yet so I’ll add in info about the Cougars when I get the chance.)
After a trip to Gopher Country, the Wildcats returned home to Lundholm to take on a pair of visiting teams in front of a large crowd. The BYU Cougars had traveled all the way from Utah for the meet, and the Pitt Panthers also made the trek eastward. Pitt and BYU both had fans in the stands as well during the meet. While wins and losses have questionable value, those who do care about such things would be hoping for a UNH win after a loss to Minnesota last week.

For UNH the team improved its team score in one week from 189.3 up to 192.4, the season high so far. This included an increase in Vault, Beam, and Floor, though there was a slight decrease on Bars.
On the Vault the Wildcats were led by Helena Diodati, who has been consistently excellent throughout the season. She picked up an 9.85. Also scoring a 9.85 was freshman Chelsea Steinberg who improved her score in a major way from last week’s trip to Minnesota. Not far behind was Diane Grey with a 9.725, another improvement from the week before albeit a minor one. Katelyn Schenkel came in with a 9.675 to improve her score and Rebekah Porter hit a 9.6. Katie Caliendo added in a 9.425.
On Bars, the team continued to be led by Diodati who scored a 9.725. Behind her was Grey, Porter, and Keeley Smith with a trio of 9.55s and Steinberg had a 9.5. For Grey, and Steinberg the scores represented rebounds from last week.
On the Beam, Taryn LaFountain picked up the team’s top score on the event and for the meet when she snagged a 9.875. Steinberg wasn’t far behind that with her 9.825. Diodati had a 9.6, Melissa Cesar picked up a 9.525, as did Smith. LaFountain and Steinberg had both improved upon their scores from a week ago in a big way, while Cesar and Smith remained relatively consistent.
On Floor, the team improved from a tough outing the last week, to put up a higher score lead by Porter’s 9.625, Smith’s 9.6, as well as Andie Sablosky’s 9.6. Faire Plummer picked up a 9.525, Taryn LaFountain improved on her score of last week, and matched Lindsay Kovary.
Pitt Report
Pittsburgh had their lowest score of the season however, they have not dropped below 190 all year. While they remained relatively steady on Vault from last week, their bars score dropped, though their Beam score rose, and a slight drop in their Floor score finished account for the .6 drop in score.
On the Vault, Dani Bryan led the team for the second straight week though with a slightly lower score of 9.725. Shannon Vafiadou was second among Panthers with a 9.7. Shannon McConnell improved on her score last week with a 9.675, and Molly Moyer and Mallory Brewer remained close to their score of the week before.
Over on the Uneven Bars, Samantah DeBone picked up the top team score of 9.65, with Alix Croop behind her with a 9.625. These both were slight drops from the week before. Kaitlin Harrison improved in a major way from the MSU meet with a 9.55 this time around, and Vafiadou picked up a 9.425, Jessica Byich filled in the scoring with a 9.2, which was a drop from the week before.
On the Beam, Moyer and Debone both picked up 9.6’s. It was a major score improvement for Moyer and a slight drop for DeBone. Anya Chayka picked up several points from the road meet the week before to hit a 9.525, and Vafiadou had the same score. Andrea Konesky rounded out the top five scores with a 9.4.
Finally on Floor, it was Moyer leading the team again with a 9.625, she had also the top score last week. Behind her was Alix Croop with a 9.55, and Shannon McConnell with a 9.5. Malloy Brewer had a 9.4 Moyer, Croop, and McConnell had been the top 3 floor scorers in the past two weeks now.
Vafiadou was the lone all arounder for Pitt and picked up a 37.4
The results were a win for UNH with its 192.400 over BYU’s 191.2 and Pitt’s 190.075.
